Albert Nord

February 13, 1926 — January 14, 2014

Nord, Albert C 87, went to be with his Lord on January 14, 2014 at his home in Salome, AZ after a courageous fight with cancer. Albert was born on the Nord Ranch (established by his Father in 1906) in Salome on February 13, 1926 and graduated from Northern Yuma County Union High School (now Parker High School) in 1943. He traveled to Parker by train weekly to attend school because there was not a High School in Salome at that time. He worked on the Nord Ranch with his Father & Mother providing produce to Wickenburg, Prescott and McMullen Valley until the early 1940s. In 1947 he married the love of his life, Irene (a Wickenburg native), and they had 67 incredible years together. He and Irene lived in Salome until 1956 when he was transferred to Phoenix by Richfield Oil Company. He left Phoenix in 1972 when his career with ARCO took him to Whittier, CA and then to Sacrament, CA where he retired in 1981. Albert & Irene became full time RVrs and were able to travel through 49 states before returning to Salome in 1992 and he became a Historical Society Site Steward. Albert was very involved with St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Glendale both as a Lay Reader and Youth Sponsor before moving to CA. After moving to Sacramento, Albert became very active with the Carmichael Elks Lodge and became a Ham Radio Operator and ran the Elks net weekly for many years. Albert is survived by his wife, Irene of Salome, Daughter, Alice Taylor of Alabama ,Son, Jerry Nord and wife Karen of Salome, daughter Fran Erickson and husband Art of Salome, daughter Paula Bowers and husband Dennis of Oregon,son Albert Nord Jr. and wife Cory of California. 8 grand children and 5 great grand children. Albert was preceded in death by his Mother & Father (Katherine & August Nord), brothers (Jack & Donald Nord) and grand daughter (Dianna Lynn Nord). A celebration of life will be held on January 25, 2014 at 12 noon at the Centennial Community Center, Salome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Centennial Community Center, Hospice of Havasu, Grace Community Church of Salome, or a charity of your choice.
