Althea Mathis

Althea "Tudy" (Reems) Mathis, age 89, passed away Sept. 5, 2011 at her home in Wickenburg. She was born April 13, 1922 in Killdeer, North Dakota to Alfred J. Reems and Jennie McKinley Reems. She graduated from Peoria High School and later attended Grand Canyon College earning a bachelor's degree in counseling. Tudy married Clarence B. Mathis in 1942 in Wickenburg. She had been a teacher with Dysart Elementary School District. She was also a former member of the Litchfield Park Community Church and Mountain View Church in Wickenburg as well as Mount Hope Assembly Church in Wickenburg. She had been active in community service donating many hours to adult special education as well as serving as a Sunday School teacher for years in her church. Tudy was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1999. She is survived by son Dennis & Kathy Mathis of Peoria. Grandchildren: Dennis, Kevin and Shannon and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 17th at 2:00 PM at Wickenburg Funeral Home.
