Ann Greenwood

Ann Elizabeth Greenwood, age 82, passed away July 28, 2014 in Wickenburg, Arizona. Ann was born August 24, 1931 in Bellmore, New York to William Hurley and Anne Elizabeth Gleason Hurley. She was raised in Bellmore and attended St. Barnabas Catholic School and later graduated from Mepham High School. Ann married Ronald Greenwood on September 23, 1956 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Bellmore, briefly making their home in Farmingdale. Ann worked as a secretary with the Sperry Corporation at that time, later moving to Levittown, Long Island where they purchased their first home. While in Levittown three children were born to Ann and Ron; Joan, Ron Jr. and Kevin. In 1965 the family moved to new colonial style home in Stony Brook, NY and in 1966 Ann had her fourth child, Catherine. She was a mother, homemaker and was an excellent seamstress, making quilts, crocheting blankets and ponchos, enjoying ceramics, gardening and researching her family ancestry. She always found time to keep a perfect home and be a mother. In 1977 Ann and Ron moved to California settling in Newbury Park. She began working at the Talley Corporation as a contract administrator. She and Ron retired in 1987 and spent time RV-ing around the country. She enjoyed traveling and they covered most of the country with the RV. In 1988 they settled in Kingman, Arizona and eventually came to the Wickenburg area in 1993 where they found a home at Desert Cypress Mobile Home Park. In 1997 they ultimately moved to North Ranch where they have resided until this time. Ann is survived by her husband Ronald in Congress, Arizona and children: Joan (Richard) Selee of Camarillo, CA., Ron (Ana) Greenwood of Los Angeles, CA., Kevin Greenwood of Thousand Palms, CA., and Catherine (Scott) Beckstead of Moorpark, CA., grandchildren: Laura (Brian) Duarte, Jason Hineline and Patrick Beckstead and great-grandchildren: Kannon, Karisa & Kelsey Duarte. Her sister Patricia (Bob) Valente of Maryland and brother Jack (Mary Ann) Hurley of South Carolina; brother-in-law Harold (Helen) Greenwood of Long Island, NY and many nieces and nephews. Ann enjoyed writing,loved to go to the library and also working crossword puzzles. She had written several Children's Books and was published with her book "A Pack Of Dreams" Most important in her life was her family. She will be forever in our hearts. Family services are planned at a later date.
