OBITUARY - Arlene "Dolly" Macias

It is with the deepest of sorrows that we announce the death of Arlene "Dolly" Macias of Wickenburg, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who passed away on November 6, 2022, at her home.

She was born on April 29, 1941, in Glen Cove, New York to John & Helen Kopetic. She is survived by her children Tom & Susan Vogtlander, grandson Mychael Vogtlander (Jessica) and granddaughter Sarah Briere (Jeremy), 3 great grandchildren, Christopher Vogtlander, Clara & Millie Briere, 10 nieces & nephews, stepchildren, Julia Brooks, Debbie Griffiths, Mike, Frank & Alex Macias, devoted friend of 50 years, Marie Hayes Baker, and her doggie Ellie.

"President Lincoln once said that the better part of his life consisted of his friendships", and if that is true then Dolly's life on this earth was indeed rich. Friends from all walks of life from all parts of the country mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Tom Kopetic (Anita), sister Elizabeth Kennedy (Bill), spouses Arthur Vogtlander, and Manuel "Shorty" Macias.

Dolly was involved in many local organizations and volunteered whenever asked. She was a member of the Wickenburg Elks Ladies Auxiliary, Wickenburg Lioness Club, Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce, and served as a champion for K9 Konnection programs. "A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be."

If you knew Dolly, she was always out and about looking for great items at multiple yard sales around town. Her excitement and smile for all that she found were shared by those who accompanied her. Daughter Susan thought perhaps her mother on the way to heaven probably stopped along the route for a yard sale and was late entering the pearly gates. We know she was greeted by those gone before whenever her arrival may have been.

A Mass in her memory will be on Friday, December 16 at 8:00 a.m., St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on her birthday, April 29, 2023, at the Wickenburg Elks Lodge. Bring your Dolly stories to share and enjoy a catered meal & fellowship.

In the meantime, in lieu of flowers, if you care to do so in her memory, please consider contributing to K9 Konnection, 928-232-2611, 903 East Wickenburg Way, Wickenburg, AZ 85390 www.k9konnectionrescue.org
