Carol Birdwell

Carol A. Birdwell was born August 31,1943 in San Luis Obispo, California to Aaron U. Cook and Dorothy Edith Garner Cook. In her early years she had lived in various locations with the family, including Texas, Nevada, Idaho, mostly in the western states. She married at an early age and had a family of 3 boys: Stephen, David and Neil and 1 daughter Lori. She met Ira Birdwell in Sedona, Az and they were later married February 12, 1983 making their home in Bagdad where Ira worked. They lived in Bagdad for some 24 years until moving to Congress 3 years ago. Carol had worked for her father as a secretary in his dairy farming business and eventually worked as a mortgage banker. With her early marriage she had not had the opportunity to complete high school even though she had almost 120 units of college credit. She received her G.E.D. and later pursued advanced degrees receiving a bachelors of science and later a Masters in Education in Counseling with emphasis on human relations. Carol had strong desire to serve in the ministry and pursued religious study and received a degree from the Unity School of Religious studies. She is survived by her husband, Ira Birdwell of Congress and children: Stephen Walling of Bagdad, Az, David Lane of France, Neil Lane of Seattle, Washington and Lori Lane of Bagdad, Az., brothers Eric Cook of Madera, CA, Aaron Cook and sister Shanon Shaw of Wilhoit, Az and 2 grandchildren: Tomas and Felipe of Oakland, CA. The family suggests any memorials contributions in Carols memory be made to Unity Church of Prescott at 145 S. Arizona Ave. Prescott, AZ 86303.
