Charles Vest

June 21, 1923 — February 20, 2017

Charles A. "Bucky" Vest, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2017. He was 93.

Bucky was born June 21, 1923 in Watertown, New York. He had seven siblings. Bucky was the oldest child.

He served in the United States Army for February 1943 to December 1945, he was a Private First Class. He was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. He received the American Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He belonged to the American Legion Post 12 in Wickenburg, Arizona. He was a lifetime member. He also was a member of the VFW, the Elks and the 40 and 8 club.

After the service Bucky worked in construction while learning Terrazo work. While in the service he married Betty Jane Green from Cheyenne, Wyoming. Later in life, they both became Retail Owners.

Bucky and Betty were blessed with three daughters, Barbara Jean Mingus, Bonnie Joanne Thompson and Beverly Joy Mills. Each daughter had four children, Barbara Jean's children, Dean Paul, Allen Jackson, Kenny Wayne and Cindy Beth. Bonnie Joanne's children, Kimberly Dawn, Kendell Damon, Karri Danette and Steven Kent. Daughter Beverly Joy's children, Christine Joy, Charles Robert "Bucky", Laura Michelle and Marcie Lynne.

Bucky and Betty all together were blessed with 3 daughters, 6 granddaughters, 6 grandsons, 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Bucky and Betty loved their family and from years of having Bucky's famous spaghetti get togethers and playing yard games, holiday gatherings and special occasions kept the "Vest Clan" very close.

Bucky and Betty had so many friends that they stayed busy entertaining while still maintaining jobs and a home. "Bucky" was so full of life, he even told a joke on the last day of his life. He will be so very missed.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held March 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
