Dick A. Johnson, age 82, passed away on December 5, 2019 in Surprise, Arizona. Dick was born on September 28, 1937 at home in Coon Creek Township, Minnesota. He was raised there and attended schools in the area and later attended high school in Russell, Minnesota. After his schooling he began farming in the Florence area. He married Marlys Bruns July 16, 1960 and they made their home in the Shelburne Township area. He farmed corn, soy beans, hay and raised cattle, sheep and hogs. Dick and Marlys came to Arizona in 1986 settling first in the Prescott Valley. He began working for the Embrey-Riddle Aeronautical University which he did for several years, they later moved to Peeples Valley where he worked as a caretaker at the Double Bar A ranch. He retired in 1999 and he and Marlys traveled extensively they eventually settled in Congress, AZ. They were members of the Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church. Dick enjoyed the outdoors and welding and fabricating on what folks deemed his "Horse-shoe Art" Dick was preceded in death by his son Dean Johnson in 1988 and a grandson Seth Johnson in 2019. He is survived by his wife Marlys of Congress and son Jody (Lisa) Johnson of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, grandchildren Sara (Matt) Halvorson, Tosh (Sara) Johnson and Ashton (Lanae) Beck and great-grandchildren: Kylie Halvorson, Kaylee Johnson, Drake Halvorson, Conner Johnson, Olivia Johnson and Owen Johnson. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 9th at 2:00 PM at the Yarnell Community Presbyterian Church in Yarnell.
