Dwight Wesley Williams, 82, of Congress, AZ passed away in his sleep on November 7, 2022. Dwight was born on March 11, 1940, in Tunnellton, IN to Leland and Ruth (Thomas) Williams. Dwight attended school in Tunnellton, IN until the family moved to Linden, IN where he graduated from Linden High School. Dwight then attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN where he earned a BS degree in Agriculture Economy.
While attending Purdue University, he met a beautiful woman named Marilyn Kroft. They were married June 10, 1962 - one week after Dwight graduated. The two remained devoted to each other until Marilyn unexpectedly passed away on May 12, 1982, in Marion, IN.
Dwight then met Vangie Norton, and they married in February 1984. In 1986, Dwight and Vangie moved from Marion, IN to the Phoenix, AZ area. Upon retirement, they decided to leave the big city and moved to Congress, AZ in May 2004. Vangie succumbed to breast cancer in November 2008.
In November 2009, he met Donna Zierman. The two have been inseparable since. They enjoyed traveling the country - being away for weeks/months at a time. They started with traveling by RV but in the last few years, they traveled by car and visited as many places as they could. Their travels took them from coast to coast and border to border. They made many stops along the way to visit family and friends.
Dwight had an infectious laugh and a smile that would brighten everyone's day. He had a positive impact on all who met him. He loved his family deeply. If you met him, you know that he always wore suspenders whether he was wearing shorts and a T-shirt or dress pants and dress shirt.
In addition to his living companion Donna, Dwight is survived by sons Steven Williams and his wife Leanne of Indianapolis, IN ; Robert Williams and his companion Alicia Hyde of Stockbridge, GA; daughter Karen King of Poway, CA; step-son Gary Norton of Torrance, CA; step-daughter Diana Spencer of Imperial Beach, CA; brothers Walter Williams and his wife Dianne of Monticello, IN ; Jim Williams and his wife Sherry of Port Charlotte, FL; sisters Lou Ellen Chapman of Crawfordsville, IN and Maria Wood of Tempe, AZ; grandchildren Megan Wilks and her husband Shane of Indianapolis, IN ; Abby Williams of Indianapolis, IN; Matthew King, Gregory King and Elaine King of Poway, CA; great-grandchildren Steven, Chloe and Jacob Wilks of Indianapolis, IN as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dwight is preceded in death by his infant sister, Anita Williams, parents, wife Marilyn, wife Vangie, brother-in-law Leon Wood, brother-in-law Richard Chapman and son-in-law Scott King.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov 12, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the 1st Baptist Church, 22050 Sunrise Ave, Congress, AZ. A second service will be held at a future date to be determined in Indiana.
