Edward Ohmer

July 6, 1928 — May 5, 2022

Edward Phillip Ohmer, son of Edward Phillip and Maude Ethel Ohmer, was received into the loving arms of his Savior May 5, 2022, at the age of 93 in Congress, Arizona. Edward leaves behind his devoted wife, Ellen Ohmer of 74 years (75 years August 30, 2022); four children: David Ohmer, Cheryl (John) Davis, Vickie (Tim) Johnson, Kim (Kathy) Ohmer; Grandchildren: Charise (John) Cole, Michael (Alysyn) Johnson, Brandon Johnson, RaeAnn (Adam) Nebel, Phillip (Ashley) Ohmer, Morgan (Bekha) Ohmer, Ethan (Shelby) Ohmer; and 14 great grandchildren.

Edward was born on July 6, 1928, in Lansing, Michigan. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Elsie and Edward Semrau, until the age of 5. Edward was a "Disbursement Technician" (truck driver) that took him to most of the U.S., most notably, Michigan, California, Alabama, and Kansas until his retirement in August 1990. He received Christ and was baptized Easter Sunday, April 6, 1958 at Paramount Southern Baptist Church. He took seriously his commitment to the Lord and served Him faithfully until his death. Despite living a very hard life through the depression and growing up without a father, Edward had a winning personality, a unique sense of humor, and a positive outlook on life. He was beloved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, especially his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Edward loved playing games, working Sudoku puzzles, and playing the card game Hand and Foot, for which he was a master. He taught all of his children and grandchildren how to play the game.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Edward (1928) and Maude (1990) Ohmer; his siblings, Neville (1917) Ohmer (stillborn), Virginia (1991) Kelly, Audrey (2003) Hatt, Phyllis (2011) Lockhart, Kenneth (2011) Ohmer, and Gerald (1981) Ohmer; and his son, David (2015) Ohmer.
