Evelyn Marie Depperschmidt passed away peacefully at Sun View Estates Home Care #3 facility in Surprise AZ at the age of 88 years.
Born January 3, 1931, in Brighton Colorado to the late Joseph and Susie VonFeldt. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Bill Depperschmidt, who passed away in 2015.
Evelyn married Bill in Colorado in 1948, where they built their first home and had their first child, Betty. Bill and Evelyn moved to California in 1953 where they had their second child, Bob.
In 1959, they moved to Alaska where they built their log home and Evelyn started her long career as a telephone operator. When Bill retired, they moved back to Colorado. In Colorado, Evelyn continued working as a telephone operator while both Bill and Evelyn built four homes, and eventually moved to Wickenburg, Arizona where they built their last home.
Evelyn was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman - a homesteader in the last frontier, a survivor of the great depression, a powerful example of American strength and fortitude. Her charisma and unique character will be remembered fondly by all of us, and we will miss her every day.
Evelyn is survived by her two children, Betty and Bob, seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grand-children, four step great-grand-children and seven great-great-grand-children.
Rosary and funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited prior to the Mass.
