Harlan specialized in inertial guidance systems for missiles including the Regulus II, Matador and Mace, and the Titan II ICBM. He belonged to the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and was very active on the Eagle Roost Homeowners Assocation board of directors as well as serving as Elder, and President of the Congregation of Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Wickenburg. In 2006 Harlan was preceded in death by his loving wife Jean Mary Weissenborn who he missed dearly.
