Jane Boyd

Eleanor Jane S. Boyd, age 86, passed away April 30, 2015 peacefully at her home in Wickenburg, AZ. Eleanor Jane Starke was born on July 19, 1928 in Tarrytown, New York to George A. Schrader Starke and Anne McEwan Starke. Mrs. Boyd was raised in Tarrytown attended and graduated from the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York. An enterprising woman, Mrs. Boyd's experience included working for the Foundation for Economic Education, MGM Studios in Hollywood, the Chamber of Commerce of Scottsdale and as the proprietor of an Orange Julius. She lived in New York, Los Angeles and Scottsdale. She met her match, Alexander Boyd and they married in February, 1978 and settled in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 1982, they built a home in Wickenburg and later, lived there full time. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd were very active in the communities where they resided and supported numerous organizations. An advocate for animals, Mrs. Boyd was a champion for the Humane Society. They were instrumental in the expansion of the Wickenburg Community Hospital, and donated the Boyd Ranch to the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. In 2010, Mr. & Mrs. Boyd were awarded the "Henry Wickenburg Award" for their service to the Community. She will be remembered for her generous and unsinkable spirit and quick wit. She enjoyed golf, playing bridge at Desert Caballeros Golf Club and picking stocks. She was preceded in death by her husband Alex in 2013, and her sister Barbara Anne. She is survived by her sister Susan Rothermel of Wickenburg, her brother George Starke of Texas, her step daughter and son in law Susanna and David Bohman of Freemont, California, her step son Jackson E. "Jeb" Boyd of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania and 3 step grandchildren: Ian & Kyle Bohman and Eleanor Boyd. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 27th, 2015 from 3 PM to 6 PM at the Desert Caballeros Golf Club.
