Jeanne Wamstad Armstrong's Obituary

Jeanne Armstrong passed away from heart failure on April 26, 2025. Born in Riverton,

WY in 1940 and living in six western states in her growing up years, Jeanne found many of her

ideas, behaviors, and beliefs based upon growing up in a treasured family with a loving Mother

and Dad. For her it was a grounding in faith, education, and serving others.

Jeanne's Dad, Chuck Wamstad, a design engineer, gave her an interest in architectural

designs; and her Mother, Lois, an elementary educator, gave her a great appreciation for

learning! With Florene, her sister, and Robert and David, her brothers, growing up for Jeanne

was filled with happiness. Life included many events together with friends, family, sports,

music, school, church youth groups, retreats, and service organizations. Internationals coming

to our home from her dad's work and from Christian families created in Jeanne a lifelong desire

for involvement with other cultures and ethnic groups. These many life experiences before

college Jeanne carried into her adult life.

In college, Jeanne was able to attend the American University of Beirut, Lebanon for her

junior year. After Jeanne and her husband, Les, graduated from the Un of NV, Reno, with BS

degrees, Les began a career in the Army. That career gave the two of them 22 years of serving

our country, cherished new friends, camping, skiing, hiking, exploring and living in new places in

the USA and Europe. After the Vietnam war Jeanne was immersed in ministry to Vietnamese

refugees in the Arlington, VA area. A second career for Les brought them to Florida and

California where Jeanne taught many more years, attended additional universities, and was active in churches with friends, and with extended family.

Jeanne's heart vocationally, was in education. During her adult years she taught in six

states and Germany, in public schools, industry, adult education, and with incarcerated teens.

Because of the many moves, there were always new challenges for educational outlets. Les and

Jeanne moved to Wickenburg in 2018 to be near four grandchildren.

Jeanne and Les raised two wonderful sons, Scott and Kevin. The girls they married are

treasured wives, Donna Reimer with Scott, and Leah Cowles with Kevin. These four are

adventurers who love the Lord, their families, their work, their friends, the outdoors, service to

others, and many of the same joys with which Jeanne grew up. Jeanne and Les have seven

grandchildren; Taylor, Robert - married to Robin, and Trevor, Aaron, Ben - married to Rily,

Caleb, and Emily; and two great granddaughters, Rayla and Renley.

A heart for mission and sharing Christ with others undergirded her involvement in youth

ministry, small groups, service to others, and international missions in Germany, Slovakia,

Hungary, and Mongolia. Sharing her faith and serving others with joy and outreach would be

Jeanne's hope for her legacy.

A Celebration Of Life service will be held at 10:30AM, May 10 at First Presbyterian

Church, Wickenburg, AZ.

In lieu of flowers, Jeanne has asked that any donations be made to First Presbyterian

Church, 180 Adams St, Wickenburg, AZ 85390, ATTN: CRU Mongolia, Teachers Ministry, Act

#2775057 in support of a ministry that has been a great blessing to her.
