John Paul Cox was born in 1928 in Evansville, Indiana to John Paul and Marie Cox. He had one sister Mary Jane. He was a proud Hoosier.
He was also a proud veteran of the US Army stationed in Japan post WW II.
John Paul was devoted to his Catholic faith and when he could no longer attend mass in person, he watched the mass from the cathedral every Sunday. His family is grateful to Don Boerker who became a steadfast friend after bringing communion most Saturdays for many years. They both enjoyed their hours of lively conversation and debate as well as viewing various sporting events together namely his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and New York Yankees. He was a lifelong fan of both teams.
John Paul was a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology and worked as an industrial engineer for 25 years and this took him from Illinois to Colorado, to Arkansas, and finally to retirement in Arizona.
Most importantly, he was a loving and devoted husband to Evelyn, married for 58 years until her death in 2010.
He was also a loving and caring father to his surviving children Mary, Theresa, Thomas (and his partner Jane), Kathleen and Jane (her partner Victor) as well his grandchildern: Kelsey, Joseph, Lucas, Matthew, Taylor, Lauren, Michael, Jacob, Simon (and his partner Lisa) and Joanne and his great grandchild, Evelyn. He also has one surviving niece, Sandy, and godson, Greg, and many other surviving nieces and nephews.
He and his family are also grateful to Patty, his caregiver of 5 years who was devoted, caring, and loving and whom he loved in return.
We are grateful for the gift and blessing he was to us all. Always quick to share a story even at 95 years young.
We know that he is now reunited with Evelyn and many family members and friends he has long missed.
Most comforting of all is that he is in the loving and eternal embrace of his Creator.
Alleluia!
Thank you Dad.
