Joy was born into Strongs Prairie, Wisconsin on May 16, 1940. She was later followed by two brothers, Carl Joseph Schmoock and Gilbert Herbert Schmoock. She described herself as a bratty little girl as she told stories of "then" with a slight smirk on her face. One of the stories being told was how she evaded a spanking from her Father. She attended Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. In 1959 Joy decided to marry and had 6 children. She extended her love and touched 7 more children's hearts as she raised all 13 in Wisconsin. Tony, Jeff, Laura, Catherine, Eric, Michelle and Virginia played alongside their brothers and sisters Cheryl, Lisa, Kevin, Scott and Glenn. When her children were grown she ceased every opportunity that was presented to travel extensively. She ventured on cruises, took trips to London, and explored the streets of Paris. There seemed to be no challenge that Joy would not accept. So it was no surprise when Joy decided to go to MATC and achieve a degree in Hospitality. After a valiant fight with cancer, Joy realized she had better things to do and died peacefully in her home with family. September 1st will not be a day to mourn the loss of Joy Hindes but celebrate the selfless life she lived. Loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend Joy is survived by 7 children, 2 brothers, and countless loving friends. Joy also lived a life surrounded by 26 smiling grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Not a day went by that they were not welcome to make a mess in their Grandmother's home.
