Larry Gay

Larry D. Gay, age 73, passed away January 29, 2010 in Wickenburg, AZ. Larry was born in Denver, Colorado August 27, 1936 to Leo I. Gay and Lois Pound Gay. He attended schools there and later enlisted in the U.S. Marines serving in the Korean War. He also attended the University of Hawaii and following his military service he returned to Colorado where he became a deputy sheriff with the Adams County Sheriff's Department. Larry later owned and operated the Sweetwater Lake Resort in Gypsum, Colorado which he did for over 20 years. During that time he ranched cattle and horses also. In 1983 he and Jane came to Wickenburg where he operated Ornamental Ironworks which he had done until the present time. Larry was an avid horseman and a member of the AQHA. He raised and bred horses most of his life and was involved in horse racing also. He was a member of the Colorado Guide & Outfitters Association as well as former president of the Outfitters Professional Association. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #2160 here in Wickenburg. Larry is survived by his wife Jane of Wickenburg and sons Randy Gay (Gogi) and Steve Gay (Amy) both of Wickenburg, brothers Leon Gay (Renae) of Green River, Wyoming, Lynn Gay (Kathy) of Lake George, Colorado and grandchildren: Brittany, Tyler, Melanie and Lane Gay all of Wickenburg. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. The family suggests any memorial contributions in Larry's memory be made to the Charity of your choice.
