Lee Bevens

February 14, 1936 — October 18, 2016

Born in Auckland, New Zealand 14 February 1936. Lee grew up in an orphanage and excelled in school sports making headlines for her feats. Later she played for New Zealand Women's Basketball team against Australia. She was a seamstress for the New Zealand Ballet Company and worked for the New Zealand Tourist Bureau, planning, booking and conducting tours of New Zealand. She moved to Australia in the early 1960's and became one of the first employees of the Bank of Queensland. Always a keen gardener she worked for a Queensland Nursery and became a landscape gardener and designer for the Mayor of Brisbane. Traveled by motorcycle throughout Europe and Southeast Asia. Did many trips throughout the USA, Mexico and Canada by car, train and plane. But enjoyed most traveling all over Australia. In between all this was able to bring up 7 children who now lead lives of their own leaving her with 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was a great people person and would talk to an help anyone in need. She will be missed by her many friends and relatives all over the world. She leaves behind husband Gene, Children" Wendy, Bronwyn, Gianna, Julie, Jocelyn & Tim. Stepson Jared Bevens and sister June in New Zealand. Her time here in Wickenburg has been short but she had enjoyed Arizona and all the great people she met during her stay. She wanted to thank everyone for being along with her on her journey through life.
