For Our Poppy
You were more than just our grandfather,
You were the heart that held us close.
A teacher of love and laughter,
The kind of man we'll miss the most.
Your hands were worn from working,
Yet always open wide -
To cook, to fix, to comfort,
To keep us by your side.
You danced through life with joy,
With music in your soul,
And filled your home with people,
So none of us felt alone.
You taught us how to give,
Without asking for a thing,
How to find the good in others,
And the light in everything.
Though your chair sits empty now,
Your love still fills each room,
And in every meal, each laugh, each song,
We'll feel your spirit bloom.
You weren't just our Poppy -
You were our guide, our home, our friend.
Your legacy lives in all of us,
A love that will never end.
