Ivy Lucile (Grandma) Powell



Lucile was born August 1, 1927 in Ray, Az and went to her heavenly home on February 23, 2021.



When Lucile was a little girl she didn't like her given name of Ivy so she changed it to Iva. Afterwards she again decided that she would rather go by her middle name of Lucile and that is how most everyone knew her as. The rest of us knew her as Grandma.



She moved from Ray, Az to Octave, Az with her family as her father worked for the mines and followed them. It was in Octave Az that she started school and eventually met and married Daniel Powell at the age of 16. After moving around a bit they ended up in Bagdad, Az were they raised they 2 daughters, Naomi and Barbara. They then moved to Hillside, Az. Lucile worked at the Hillside School as an aid for many years. She also loved to work in her yard, crochet, and sew. She also was an avid fan of bull-riding. She could tell you about all of the top winners on the circuit .



Lucile Powell was preceded in death by her mother and father, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Also by her husband Daniel, her daughter Naomi, and a grandson Bobby Gene.



Lucile is survived by her daughter Barbara Newkirk, her grandchildren: Donna Wadford, Helen Nash, Donald Ridley, and Daniel Ridley. Her great-grandchildren Tiffany Bopp, Heather Woolery, Jennifer Buckingham, Neil Wadford, Timothy Spurgeon, Angel Ridley ,Jacob Ridley ,Tommy Dorris, and Rebekah Greenwood. She also has 12 Great-Great-Grandchildren.



She was well loved and will be missed by many.
