On March 25, 2026, Marilyn Towne ("Spike"), 73, breathed her last earthly breath in Goodyear, Arizona. She passed away due to complications from a stroke.
Marilyn spent most of her life in Maine before moving to Arizona with her beloved husband, Denny, almost two decades ago. She raised her two children, Benjamin and Rebecca, in Maine before fleeing the cold for the warm and sunny desert with Denny.
Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her two children, and supporting Denny in dealing with the aftermath of the Vietnam War - helping him find peace and solace on earth. Denny and Marilyn were two peas in a pod, and brought immeasurable peace to one another - surviving 45 years of marriage before his passing. She lived a life of great faith in God, no matter the circumstance. She studied and sought after the truth of God with great fervor and zeal and would have deep spiritual talks with her daughter for which her daughter will be eternally thankful.
Marilyn loved the color purple, lilacs, the ocean, and riding her motorcycle. She even introduced Denny to the biker life for which they both became known in Maine and Arizona. She loved the open road with Denny.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Towne, father, R.O. Johnston, and mother, Norma Johnston. She is survived by her son, Benjamin Towne (wife Renee) of New York, and daughter, Rebecca Towne of Maine. She is also survived by her brothers Jim (Nancy) Johnston and David (Joyce) Johnston. Her family is forever thankful for her patience, kindness, and the sacrifices she made throughout her life for them. May she rest in eternal peace and wonder.
A memorial service will be held at the American Legion Post 12 in Wickenburg, AZ on April 7th at 10:00 - with refreshments. Following the service, all are encouraged to follow her children up to the Prescott National Cemetery for internment with her beloved husband, arriving by 1:00.
