Wickenburg, AZ - Patricia Louise Fiscus, 90, died Saturday, February 19th, at her residence in Wickenburg. She was born September 25th, 1931, in Auburn, Nebraska, the daughter of the Reverend John H. and Louise Patterson.
Patricia graduated from Bridgeport High School, Bridgeport, Nebraska, and attended Hastings College, Hastings, Nebraska graduating with a BS in Biology and a Teaching Credential in 1952. Patricia married Gale Fiscus, who was serving in the Air Force, at Bury Saint Edmunds Methodist Church near Cambridge England March 16th, 1953, before returning to the United States and assuming the first of several teaching positions: first at Juniata High School, in Juniata, NE. Subsequently, Patricia held teaching positions at Evans High School in Evans, Colorado as a Biology teacher, and finally, after moving to California in 1962, she assumed a position as head of Department, Home Economics in the Simi Valley Unified School system, teaching at Sinaloa Junior High School until her retirement in 1988. Patricia moved to Wickenburg and established residence with her husband in 1992. Patricia was an early advocate to preserve nature and the environment and influenced a movement in education to teach young men basic cooking and sewing skills in preparation for adulthood. For many years Patricia was a member of the National Teachers Association (NEA) and the California Teachers Association (CTA). In addition, she was a member of the Red Hat Society, an international society of women which supports and encourages women's issues and fulfillment of a women's potential.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Charles and John. Patricia was also predeceased by her twin boys, Johnny and Jimmy. Surviving in addition to her husband Gale is her Sister Katherine Thomas, Des Moines, Iowa and by her son Philip Fiscus, Randolph, New Jersey, his wife Colleen, three daughters (grandchildren), Erin (Fiscus) Rossi, Morris Township, New Jersey, Melissa (Fiscus) Olivo, Randolph, New Jersey, and Dr. Shannon Fiscus, Baltimore, MD. In addition, Patricia has five great-grandchildren between 6 months and 6 years old and many nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be conducted by Rev Jonathan Evans which will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Wickenburg, AZ., beginning at 2:30 PM Wednesday February 23rd, 2022. Burial will be at the Veteran's Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ.
