In Memory of Roger Eugene Berg, A Life Well Lived
July 30, 1950 to October 25, 2023

In the land of memories, where stories are told,
Lies the tale of Roger, a spirit brave and bold.

In childhood he and friend, Hood, they inspire,
Adventures that nearly set the garage afire!
Through trials and troubles, their bond stood strong,
No teasing or taunting let them go wrong.

Roger faced a challenge at the age of eighteen,
Type I diabetes struck, a serious illness unforeseen.
With school time missed, he had to persevere,
He crammed like crazy and graduated without fear.

From the milk route with Dad in those hot summer days,
To helping Mom remove desk gum in countless ways.
Then Alpha Sigma Phi, a pledge with a spanking line,
And the ice hockey team, his shy heart did shine.

Aerospace engineering, a BS degree he had earned,
From drafting boards to Director, 42 career years turned.
He led Boeing &"39;s baseball team, pitched for four years,
Managed billion-dollar initiatives, and celebrated with beers.

He taught Cub Scouts to help his adopted sons grow,
With graphite on wheels, they won the derby race show.
A precious daughter he enjoyed her good laughable ways,
sure was glad when she finally settled for the rest of her days.

Washington's beauty, mountains, rivers, and more,
Motorcycle adventures, his heart did soar.
Through rain, hail and snow, his two-wheeler he’d ride,
To and from Boeing, with unwavering stride.

Skiing was his passion, vacations spent,
With Boeing colleagues, much Washington trips they went.
Down to McDonald Douglas in California's grace,
He bicycled and explored, with a smile on his face.

Through life, he explored lands far and wide,
Roadtripping North America with family in stride.
Sometimes no map, just what he called, “the right-turn rule”,
Roger's adventures were boundless, his spirit so cool.

Home with Roger was a different adventure,
Costumes for all events, he was such an inventor.
At work as an airplane, Christmas a dancing elf,
For Halloween this red-tailed egg, was the deviled egg himself.

Onto BBQ, clipper ships, and cross-stitching his delight,
Even though he claimed to hate dogs, that’s not quite right.
From Melon, the dachshund, to feeding Niqui spicy treats,
To Mitsee, the Poodle, his canine love repeats.

A humble heart so full, a life well-lived and true,
This kind brilliant man, Roger, a fond farewell to you.
In memories cherished, your spirit shall reside,
In the hearts of all, forever by our side.
