Ronald L. Engelsman, 70, of Congress, formerly of Boyden, passe away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at his residence.
Ronald was born on Nov. 20, 1947, in Sheldon, Iowa. He lived in Boyden until he graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in 1966. He earned an associate in applied science degree from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. He also earned a BSEE degree from Marquette University in 1971. Following graduation, he worked for General Electric Company in Syracuse N.Y., Shemya Alaska, and Huntington Beach Calif. In 1977, he accepted a position with Hughes Aircraft Company in Fullerton Calif. While working there, he also earned a masters degree in business administration from California State University Fullerton. He spent the remainder of his career working for Hughes and its successor company, Raytheon, until he retired in 2003.
Ronald met Elena and they were married in 1978 at Garden Grove Community Church in California. They loved to travel and soon after retiring they began full-time RV living. For the past several years, they have traveled all over the USA and Canada enjoying the scenic beauty and meeting new friends.
Ronald is survived by his wife and best friend, Elena; and nephews, Bruce and Loren Kuyper, both of Helena Mont.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tenis and Nellie Engelsman; and sisters, Wilma DeJong and Marjorie Kuyper.
