Sandra Hayden

October 12, 1934 — November 30, 2015

Sandra Hayden went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 30, 2015 after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Sandra was born in Bowie, Arizona to Katherine and Jack Baker on October 12, 1934. Sandra's maternal grandparents had settled in southern Arizona in 1900 and they are both buried in the Arizona Pioneer Cemetery in Prescott. As a child Sandra grew up during the Great Depression when she suffered severe malnutrition and amoebic dysentery. As a result she started to lose her eyesight at age 15 and was told she only had a year left before becoming totally blind. Despite such a dire and eventually false diagnosis Sandra graduated high school and lived independently working as a telephone operator. In the spring of 1953 Sandra met the love of her life, James Lee Hayden, a young Navy sailor stationed in Phoenix. On May 15,1953 Sandra married James and they were married for nearly 62 years until his passing earlier this year. Despite many hardships of life, Sandra was a sweet, gentle, sacrificially caring woman who had deep faith in the Lord most of her life which has been passed on to her descendants. We all mourn our earthly family loss, but we are all comforted by the fact we will all be reunited in glory with the Lord. Sandra is survived by her daughters, Jacque Nguyen and Jill Moore(Billy);grandchildren, Elizabeth Nguyen ,Jonathan Nguyen and Katherine Morton(Samuel);great-grandchildren Daniel, Anastasia and Eloise Morton;and her brother Chuck (Kat) Baker. A private graveside service will be held in her honor.
