William Harmon Bain

1924 - 2019

William Harmon Bain of Congress, Arizona passed away on November 20, 2019 after complications from a serious fall. He was 95 years and 7 months old. He joins his beloved wife, Betty in Heaven to meet his Lord and Savior.

Bill was born on April 18, 1924 to Luther James Bain and Bessie Frances Barringer Bain.

He was the youngest of six siblings, and the last surviving of the family.

He joined the U.S. Army in 1943, and had the status of "non-combatant" because he was blind in his right eye. He went to Cook and Bakers School in Michigan, then went on to Devizes, England, where he was attached to the 102nd General Hospital to be of service to the troops coming in. When he returned, he was finishing his service on a Hospital train that took the wounded home, station in Washington State. There he met Betty Sprague, who he married on February 14, 1946. He separated from the Army March 8, 1946. Bill spent most of his working career at Rockwell International, known as Boeing, in Anaheim, CA. There he was an industrial painter, and worked a variety of jobs all over the plant that had anything to do with finishing. Painting was truly in his blood, it was the answer to cleaning or fixing anything.

Bill raised his family in church, and was always busy helping and serving on many boards in his lifetime. He loved the Lord with all his heart and believed in the power of prayer to get us through life.

Bill is survived by his son Michel D. Bain and wife Charlotte Bain of Congress, AZ, and 2 grandchildren: Paul Bain of San Diego, CA and Tammy Bain Heidelberger of Greenbrier, AR. He also had four great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed, and remembered fondly.

We will celebrate his life in a Committal Service at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California in January 2020.
