William Cameron

William James Cameron - 1928-2013 Born April 2nd to parents Fred & Elizabeth Cameron, the first baby born in the Wickenburg hospital. He peacefully passed at home of natural causes on May 19th, 2013. Raised on the Cameron ranch above Box Canyon on the Hassayampa River and attended the old Rincon school. Married Nancy L. Carter in 1948 Worked in Arizona, New Mexico and California in the Communication Department, Santa Fe Railroad. Maintained communication lines and equipment, including the telegraph equipment at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon Settling in Barstow, California 1956, worked for California Interstate Telephone Company (later became Verizon), retiring in 1985. He worked both in Technician and Supervisor capacities for inside and outside services meanwhile obtaining security clearance and was honored by NASA with a commemorative medallion while supporting their Apollo Moon Projects. Life member of Hassayampa Masonic Lodge No. 37 F&AM, raised in 1955, obtained his 32nd degree California Scottish Rite by the Valley of San Bernardino Consistory, in 1970. Shared his love for the outdoors, fishing, hunting & boating enthusiasm for wildlife and nature with numerous family outings and vacations from the Arizona desert to the Pacific Ocean. In 1993 Jim and Nancy reestablished their roots back in Arizona settling in Yarnell. With a vast knowledge of craftsmanship and resourcefulness he always provided for his wife and family passing down his independent nature. Showing his appreciation for wildlife, maintained habitat to enjoy his friends of nature. Recently celebrating their March 2013 65thWedding Anniversary, he is survived by his wife Nancy, 4 Children - Cynthia Jean, James Michael, Patrick Lynn, Debra May, with 9 Grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren One knowing Jim's integrity, his handshake was as good as his word.
